Tire Factory Opened 20 Point S Locations in the U.S. in 2017

Feb. 7, 2018

In addition to working on the eastern expansion of the Point S brand in the U.S., Tire Factory Inc. has continued to build up the foundation of its cooperative in western states, adding 20 locations in 11 states in 2017.

Clint Young, director of sales and business development for Point S in the U.S., says, “The number of new stores joining in 2017 is very exciting and speaks to the power of Point S. New Point S locations and existing members all made a powerful decision to join a group that exists to protect their independence, but our offerings also improve their ability to serve their customers and connect with new ones.

“Our programs bring value to the independent tire storeowner. Point S Tire allows owners to stay competitive in the consolidating tire industry yet keep what they value – their independence.”

The cooperative, with more than 200 stores and retail sales of more than $300 million, is in the midst of opening a warehouse in Memphis, Tenn., which it expects will help it expand and attract more members in the coming years. Cooperative members receive volume bonus benefits and profits.

CEO Walter Lybeck says, "Helping independent dealers win today and plan for their future is what makes our offering so compelling. These new locations will see the benefit and power of what coming together can do for them and what the power of the Point S brand will do to help their success.”

Here's a rundown of the geography of the new locations:

Alaska: Fairbanks

California: Eureka and Redding

Colorado: Durango

Idaho: Idaho Falls, Montpelier and Buhl

Nevada: Winnemucca

New Mexico: Farmington and Kirtland

Oklahoma; Haskell and Stillwater

Oregon: Vale, Junction City and Clackamas

Utah: Duchesne and Salt Lake City

Washington: Royal City and Port Orchard

Wyoming: Buffalo

The cooperative will host its annual owners meeting Feb. 22-25, 2018, in Hollywood, Calif., and will "celebrate our new members and share in business updates across our entire operation.”

The U.S. arm of Point S is part of a global network with 3,500 branded locations in 32 countries. By 2020, Point S expects to be the third-largest independent retail tire chain in North America.

Fabien Bouquet, CEO of Point S International office says, “North America is a strategic growth area for us, and this exciting activity demonstrates the ability of our member counties like Point S to accomplish this goal. Close to 200 new retail locations have joined our International network this year.”
