Nokian Tyres plc is working to make its cargo and commercial van tires more durable with the use of its Aramid Sidewall technology.
“We want to offer cargo and commercial van drivers the same durability that the users of our SUV and LT tires are already receiving,” says Petri Niemi, head of product and pricing management for Nokian Tyres. “In addition to protecting against unplanned additional costs caused by tire damage, Aramid fiber also ensures reliability in unpredictable situations.” The aramid fiber reinforces the sidewall to better withstand external impacts, cuts and depressions from curb edges and potholes, Nokian says. And it's a technology the tire maker is using in a growing number of its products:
