Not all Michelin tires are good, says car dealer

Nov. 25, 2011

You would think that a longtime car dealer would know better. But in his blog about why new car tires wear out so fast, Earl Stewart made some, shall we say, "interesting" statements.

Like this one: "Just because it’s a 'Michelin' doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a good tire.'"

Provacative? Controversial? Inaccurate? Stewart has been a fixture in the North Palm Beach, Fla., area for more than 30 years. He knows his cars (at least Toyotas), but does he know tires?

To find out more about what Stewart wrote, and the context surrounding his statements, read Modern Tire Dealer Editor Bob Ulrich's own blog, "Car dealer says vehicle manufacturers, not tire makers, design tires!"

One former Tire Dealer of the Year already has weighed in on the statements. Let us know what you think by leaving a comment or comments of your own!
