Georgia golf tournament raises scholarship money

Oct. 12, 2011

The first annual Georgia Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association (GTDRA) Foundation Golf Tournament was held Sept. 28, 2011, at the Healy Point Golf Club in Macon, Ga.

Thirty-two golfers participated in a four-man scramble, raising money for the GTDRA scholarship program. “First, second, and third place prizes were given to the top three groups, and then everyone enjoyed each other’s company during a fajita dinner,” the association reports.

Sean Plumstead, the president of the foundation, organized the fundraising tournament and plans on making it an annual event.

To date, the foundation has awarded $171,500 to scholarship winners. “Thanks go out to Federated Insurance, Impact Ink, and Delta Credit Union for providing giveaways to all participants,” the GTDRA says.

If anyone is interested in providing giveaways or playing in next year’s tournament, the GTDRA asks that you send your contact information to the association office at [email protected].
