Hankook welcome DTM to Brands Hatch in the UK

Martin Tomczyk wins DTM race at Brands Hatch and claims the lead in drivers’ standings.

The British weather stayed true to form at this weekend’s DTM race at the Brands Hatch circuit, with laptimes of around 50 seconds, the shortest nevertheless very spectacular racetrack in the 2011 DTM calendar. The weekend attracted over 21,000 spectators and was welcomed by glorious sunshine as Hankook invited a selection of its customers to join them at the most popular international touring car racing series.  Sunday however saw heavy showers arrive which led to an exciting race that resulted in a win by Audi Driver, Martin Tomczyk. Tomczyk’s win also bagged him the lead in the drivers’ standings.  Audi successfully took control of the podium as second and third place were won by fellow Audi Drivers, Mattias Ekstrom and youngster Edoardo Mortara.

Guests were able to watch a host of races during the weekend where they could get up-close and personal with the thunder and action of the high-performance cars.  There was also the opportunity to experience the luxury of the Hankook Hospitality Suite which boasts a unique two storey layout giving the ideal view of the track so spectators were able to witness the race in the dry and comfortable surroundings whilst enjoying the fine dining on offer.  During the course of the weekend guests were also able to meet several of the DTM Drivers including former F1 star David Coulthard, Gary Paffett, Oliver Jarvis and Mattias Ekstrom.

Since 2011 Hankook are the exclusive tyre supplier to the DTM series which is currently occupied by the Audi and Mercedes-Benz teams with the BMW Group joining the action in 2012.  The exclusive partnership with the touring car racing series has proved to be a great success to date and we look forward to an exciting season in 2012.
