TRIB co-sponsors TMCSuperTech contest

Sept. 7, 2011

The Tire Retread & Repair Information Bureau (TRIB) has teamed up with the Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) of the American Trucking Association. The groups will sponsor the "Spot the Retread" competition as part of the qualification process for TMC's National Technician Skills Competition (TMCSuperTech 2011), Sept. 19-22, 2011, in Raleigh, N.C.

"We'll have eight new and retreaded tires from Bridgestone/Bandag, Continental, Goodyear, and Michelin, and having already seen a few of the tires, I know the competition will present a real challenge for the technicians," says TRIB managing director David Stevens. "These tires are a real testament to the continually improving engineering and manufacturing process for retreaded tires, and reinforces how they should be a part of any fleet's overall tire program."

TRIB says TMCSuperTech is North America’s premier skills competition for professional commercial vehicle technicians. TMCSuperTech contestants come from all segments of the trucking industry, and many are state, regional or corporate champions.

The competition consists of a first-round written challenge and subsequent hands-on skills challenge. TRIB's "Spot the Retread" component, which will take place during the qualification round, will serve as a way for contestants who move on to the Hands-on-Skills Challenge to earn bonus points toward their final score.
