Trelleborg to debut super single tractor tire

Sept. 6, 2011

Trelleborg Wheel Systems will introduce the TM1000 High Power tire at the Agrotechnica exhibition Nov.15-19, 2011, in Hannover, Germany.

With a height and overall diameter of 7.55 feet and a 46-inch rim, Trelleborg says the TM1000 is the largest super single tire ever produced. The giant tire is engineered to meet the requirements the new generation of tractor engines and transmissions.

“The TM1000 High Power tire is the result of substantial investments in R&D and manufacturing technology, along with years of joint development initiatives with leading tractor manufacturers,” says Paolo Pompei, president of the Agricultural and Forestry Tires division, Trelleborg Wheel Systems. “We pride ourselves on our innovation and this tire anticipates the size and power of tractors in the future.

“We are extremely satisfied with the results from tests which show that the new solution is exceeding expectations in any work condition and over the long term. The ambition of this project is to redefine standards within the agricultural industry, to provide the farmer with a top class solution capable of boosting the productivity and the efficiency of the farm, while fully respecting the environment.”

The tire is currently undergoing indoor and outdoor tests to meet performance targets under the most severe conditions, both in the field and on the road. During field operations the tire gives a traction capacity 5-8% higher compared to other premium brand competitors, notes Trelleborg, and a 5% wider footprint at low inflation pressure enhanced by Trelleborg BlueTire technology.

On the road, premium rolling resistance performance is expected to lower fuel consumption and emissions by 4-6% compared to the average for the market. The development of the new TM1000 High Power has been driven by two key values, farming productivity and environmental care.
