Ken-Tool 'inserts' roller into safety cage

Aug. 13, 2011

Ken-Tool Corp. is marketing a new roller insert for popular tire inflation cages. Called the EZ Tire Rotator, the insert "improves the service technician's safety and efficiency," according to the company.

With the help of the patent pending EZ Tire Rotator cage accessory (36014-T114), the service tech rolls the mounted heavy-duty tire and wheel into the cage and simply rotates the wheel/tire assembly until the valve stem can be correctly positioned for pressurizing the tire.

The tech does not have to physically lift or remove the wheel and tire from the cage and roll it around to reposition the valve stem to get the proper orientation. The unit also helps to prevent a technician’s hand from being pinched when attaching a clip-on air chuck.

Made of high quality steel in the United States, the EZ Tire Rotator insert fits any Ken-Tool 3-, 4- or 5-bar cage, as well as most other tire cages on the market, says the company. The 2-inch by 9.5-inch (5.1 cm by 24.1 cm) rollers feature heavy-duty steel ball bearings.

The assembly is quickly installed by tipping and sliding it into the cage, and securely held in place by two arms on each side that use the vertical cage tubes to center and locate the platform on the cage floor. The insert also can be transferred easily between cages.

In the event that a tire and wheel assembly should explode in the cage, the EZ Tire Rotator will remain secure in the bottom of the cage.
