Ken Brown, manager and owner of Alan Brown Tire Center in Newport, Ore., has been elected secretary of the Tire Industry Association (TIA) by its board of directors for 2011-2012. He will begin his one-year term on Nov. 1, 2011.
The biannual board of directors meeting was held June 15–17 in Paradise Island, the Bahamas.
After his term as secretary has expired, Brown will take over as vice president, then president (2013-2014), then past president. All of these positions are for one-year terms.
The board also replaced Chip Huber, who resigned from the board "to pursue other opportunities," according to TIA. Huber is president of Q-Fix Inc., which does business as Q Fix Truck Service in Louisville, Ky.
Randall Groh, vice president of marketing for Appleton, WI-based U.S. Auto Force, was elected to fill in for the remainder of Huber’s term as secretary, which expires on Oct. 31, 2011.
“Both Ken and Randy bring a wealth of experience to the role of secretary of TIA’s board, and we are excited that they are expanding their participation by taking on this important position," says TIA Executive Vice President Roy Littlefield.
The board also re-elected Tom Formanek, regional sales manager for Stellar Industries Inc. and current TIA treasurer, to another three-year term. His new term also will commence Nov. 1, 2011.
