Dunlop Tires score podium finish in Le Mans GTE Pro class

June 15, 2011

The Number 56 BMW M3 GT finished third in the GTE Pro sports car class, with drivers Dirk Muller, Joey Hand and Andy Prialux sharing duties.

Final-stint driver Hand crossed the finish line after 313 laps, covering a distance of more than 2,600 miles.

The podium finish at Le Mans is yet another highlight of the team’s outstanding performance in the 2011 season. In the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) BMW Team RLL is at the top of the standings, with first place finishes at both Sebring and Long Beach.

“The season we have had so far is a testament to the great team and the strong package that BMW has put together for us,” said Joey Hand. “Dunlop tires are a key component of that package and without Dunlop’s hard work and continued commitment to our program, we would not be having the 2011 season we have had so far.”

Dunlop has been BMW Team RLL’s tire provider since the launch of the M3 GT program in 2009, and the racing tires have been credited for helping the team mature and develop into a consistent performer and winner.

“We’re proud to say Dunlop has consistently delivered the performance needed for a winning team, especially during endurance races like the 24 Hours of Le Mans,” said Jonathan Lee, Dunlop brand general manager. “It’s a testament to the strength and commitment of the Dunlop brand.”
