Tornado destroys Cross-Midwest service center

A tornado destroyed Cross-Midwest Tire Co.'s commercial tire service center in Joplin, Mo., on May 22, 2011.

According to President Greg Trum, no one was hurt. However, one of the company's shop service managers lost his home.

Trum described the service center as "a tangled mess." (To see some of the damage to the town, check out this video on YouTube.) A nearby Home Depot and Walmart also were leveled.

The "Associated Press" reported that the tornado has killed 117 people in Missouri.

Based in Kansas City, Mo., Cross-Midwest also has 12 other commercial tire service centers servicing the midwestern United States.
