Virginia group honors Matthews and Kavanah

During its annual convention and trade show recently, the Virginia Automotive Association (VAA) recognized two of its own.

The event was held April 8-10 at the Marriott Hotel in Williamsburg, Va. The Awards Banquet was held Saturday, April 9.

Executive Director Steve Akridge honored Jim Matthews and Dave Kavanah for their support of and service to the VAA with two prestigious awards.

Matthews received the “Friend of the Industry Award.” He recently retired as region manager with American Tire Distributors Inc. (ATD).

"In the 21 years I have been executive director, Jim has always been there for us," says Akridge.

Kavanah received the “Distinguished Member Award” for his 23 years of dedicated service to the VAA board of directors. He recently transferred to Baltimore, Md., where is is branch manager of the ATD location there.

"Dedicated and passionate certainly describe Dave's commitment to VAA," adds Akridge.
