Come to ADDY: Yokohama wins app award

April 10, 2011

Yokohama Tire Corp. has captured a Silver ADDY Award for its Yokohama Tire Explorer iPad app, which was published on iTunes last month. The app won in the "Mobile Marketing" category of the regional competition, the first in a three-tiered national competition.

“The ADDY Awards are the largest and most competitive in the creative industry,” says Alan Holtschneider, Yokohama manager of advertising, promotions and events.

“Being recognized by the AAF (American Advertising Federation) is truly an achievement because the judging was based on creativity and effective messaging. And since there were no gold winners in the category, Yokohama essentially took the top prize in mobile marketing!”

The Yokohama Tire Explorer app was designed by Yokohama’s ad agency, Kovel/Fuller LLC, and is free to consumers on iTunes. It features videos and information on the technology behind Yokohama’s consumer tire lines: Advan, Geolander, Avid ENVigor, S.drive and dB Super E-spec.

There also is information on tire compounds, tread design and construction, along with a ‘Tireology” section and fun facts about tires.

Yokohama received the award at the recent Los Angeles area chapter of the AAF's regional award show in Beverly Hills, Calif. The event annually attracts more than 60,000 entries in local competitions.

This year's national ADDY finals will be held June 4 in San Diego, Calif.
