No April Fool's joke: Bridgestone will raise prices

Feb. 3, 2011

Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations LLC will raise replacement and original equipment consumer tire prices on April 1, 2011.

The increases on Bridgestone, Firestone and associate brand passenger and light truck tires in the United States and Canada will vary up to 8%.

“We continue to face unprecedented increases in raw material, energy and transportation costs, resulting in the need for these price increases,” says Larry Magee, president, consumer tires, U.S. and Canada.

“While we are always working to balance costs and deliver a premium package of value to our customers, these extraordinary increases in costs related to manufacturing make these price adjustments necessary.”

The company last raised consumer tire prices on Nov. 1, 2010. Those increases also varied up to 8%.

Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions instituted a 12% price increase on its Bridgestone and Firestone brand radial truck and bus tires in the United States on Feb. 1.
