Bridgestone Corp. has opened a synthetic rubber plant in Huizhou, China. It will produce around 50,000 tons each year.
Rubber produced at the plant will primarily be used in the tire's tread.
As tire demand increases in Asia, Bridgestone officials predict "increasing demand" for synthetic rubber.
