Dick Nordness, executive director of the Northwest Tire Dealers Association, is trying to get the word out -- from November 1 to April 1, studded tires are legal in the state of Washington to help with winter driving conditions.
Recent media coverage concerning potential legislation during the 2004 session that would attempt to ban the use of studded tires in Washington state appears to have led many consumers to wonder if it is legal to put studded tires on their vehicles this year.
"Local tire dealers have been flooded with phone calls from consumers asking whether they can use studded tires this year," Nordness says.
The answer is yes, studded tires are permitted in Washington from November 1 through April 1.
