BFNT opens distribution center

Bridgestone/Firestone North American Tire LLC's (BFNT) new distribution center in Lebanon, Tenn., will help finalize the centralization of the company's tire distribution network.

The 750,000-square-foot facility will serve as BFNT's main distribution center in the mid-south region and will help the company "reach out to a new customer base that spans the south," say BFNT officials.

The distribution center can hold more than a million tires at capacity, ranging from small passenger and industrial tires to large OTR units.

"Tires will move quickly through the warehouse to their final destination, typically staying at the facility less than four weeks."

The facility, which employs more than 200 people, is BFNT's eighth distribution center in the United States.

The others are located in Albany, Ga.; Allentown, Pa.; Chicago, Ill.; Dallas, Texas; Ontario, Calif.; Portland, Ore.; and one in Hawaii.

BFNT also has distribution centers in Mississauga, Ontario, a Toronto suburb, and Langley, B.C.
