Big O Tires Inc. and Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. are splitting up 16 Superior Tire stores in the Las Vegas, Nev., area. Big O will franchise seven of them, while Goodyear will keep nine.
At one time, the 16 stores were owned by Big O, Goodyear and Mountain View Tire. It became a joint partnership when Big O and Goodyear bought out Mountain View.
The seven stores will give Big O 18 in the greater Las Vegas area. The company is looking to up that to 23 in the next 12 to 18 months.
Big O, a division of TBC Corp., oversees 562 franchised stores nationwide. Big O's goal was to reach 600 stores by the end of the year; however, it will fall short of that goal, according to a company spokesperson.
