BFNT, PACCAR ink new OE contract

Oct. 16, 2003

Bridgestone/Firestone North American Tire LLC (BFNT) has signed a new long-term agreement with PACCAR that continues the use of Bridgestone medium truck tires as original equipment on the company's vehicles, including Kenworth and Peterbilt models.

The contract extends into the next decade, according to Singh Ahluwalia, BFNT's president of truck and bus tires.

PACCAR originally selected Bridgestone tires as "standard" original equipment in 1991, "meaning that, unless otherwise specified by the buyer, every new Kenworth or Peterbilt truck is delivered with Bridgestone radials," say BFNT officials.

PACCAR also uses Bridgestone brand tires in other parts of the world in addition to the Americas.

"We look forward to continuing our relationship with PACCAR and its customers for many years to come," says Ahluwalia.

The Bridgestone brand enjoys 17% of the medium/heavy truck tire replacement market, according to Modern Tire Dealer data.
