Michelin North America Inc.'s Uniroyal tire brand and Julie Foudy, captain of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team, are teaming up to raise money for youth soccer.

For every minute Foudy plays in the 2003 World Cup, to be held from September 20 through October 12, the company will donate $500 in soccer equipment and will donate $50,000 in equipment for every goal Foudy scores.

The donations will be made in communities where Uniroyal dealers are supporting youth soccer leagues.

Foudy, a four-year spokesperson for Uniroyal tires, is a veteran member of the U.S. National team and the WUSA's San Diego Spirit. In her 1999 World Cup appearance, Foudy played a total of 429 minutes and scored one goal in a total of six games winning the United States' second ever Women’s World Cup title.

"Julie and her teammates did so much for the game of soccer when they won the World Cup in '99," said Uniroyal Brand Director Tim Jamison. "Like millions of Americans, we'll be cheering the team on again this fall, and we'll be cheering particularly loud for Julie --because the more she contributes to the team, the more we will contribute to youth soccer programs across America."

The company has been a big supporter of youth soccer over the past four years, raising more than $3.5 million through equipment donation, fundraising initiatives and a four-year US Youth Soccer TOPSoccer title sponsorship.
