Northwest Tire deploys 'Price Patrol'

Flint, Mich.-based Northwest Tire & Service's new "Price Patrol" program has been well-received by customers and employees alike, according to Northwest Tire Vice President A.J. Faught.

If customers "find another tire advertised at a price less than our own (within 100 miles), we give them the difference back and then we double what we gave them," says Faught.

The program requires employees "to do research on what's available in our market."

Northwest Tire also has converted to an all-inclusive pricing program called "Ready to Roll."

"All the extras are free," says Faught, like valves, balancing, road hazards, etc.

It's working "very well so far. By and large, acceptance has been good."

Northwest Tire & Service is the 98th largest independent tire store chain in North America with 11 outlets, according to Modern Tire Dealer data.

It recorded $14 million in sales last year.
