Continental prepares for CrossContact LX introduction

April 21, 2003

Continental Tire North America Inc. (CTNA) will introduce its Continental CrossContact LX to the North American market by the end of the second quarter.

The CrossContact LX is a premium tire engineered to give light trucks and SUV's optimal performance on-highway and in light off-road conditions, according to the company. The design emphasizes comfort, efficient hydroplaning resistance and optimum driving characteristics.

The asymmetrical tire's open shoulder design provides excellent handling and braking, even in light off-road conditions, says CTNA. This design element is visually underscored by a unique and appealing tread design.

Three circumferential ribs with offset rows of tread lugs and extensive fine sipes ensure all-season traction, stability and a smooth ride. Acoustic Alterra Technology makes road noise almost nonexistent, adds the company.

The CrossContact LX will be available in 12 different sizes ranging from 15 to 18 inches. Initial sizes include the following:

75 series: 235/75R15 109 T XL (OWL), 225/75R16 104 H (BSW).
