Independent Tire Dealers Group names new president

Michael Cox is the new president of the Independent Tire Dealers Group. He replaces longtime industry veteran Gary Ceazan, who is retiring.

Cox most recently worked with TBC Corp.'s Tire Kingdom subsidary. Prior to that he was executive vice president of Monro Muffler Brake & Service. He also worked with Bridgestone/Firestone for 18 years.

The Independent Tire Dealers Group is comprised of 81 dealer members representing more than 270 locations in California, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico and Hawaii.

In addition to Cox, Edward Long has joined the company as vice president of sales. Long, formerly head of operations for Tire Kingdom in the southeast, also spent 18 years at Bridgestone/Firestone.

In a separate announcement by the group, Alpio Barbara was elected chairman of the board. Barbara is owner of Redwood General Tire in Redwood City, Calif.
