Dunlop to sponsor drag race series

March 27, 2003

Dunlop Tire will serve as the official tire and lanyard sponsor for the 2003 The Fast and the Furious race series put on by the NOPI Drag Racing Association (NDRA).

The racing series will begin its 10-race, second season April 12 and 13, 2003, at Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas. Series events will be held at tracks across the country with the world finals on October 18 and 19, 2003, at Drag City in Banning, Calif., says NDRA.

"The environment of a NOPI weekend is the ultimate for a sport-compact enthusiast because it is an entertaining combination of a racing event and a social event. There is something for everyone -- from the hard-core racer to those just getting started in the sport-compact scene," says Mike Pulte, Dunlop Tire's manager, extreme performance.

"This sponsorship is a perfect fit for Dunlop, as the brand connects with this ultra-performance lifestyle. Dunlop's lineup features tires such as the SP Sport FM901 that give enthusiasts an adrenaline rush -- whether they're drooling over the great looks, or they're behind the wheel of a Dunlop-equipped machine," says Pulte.

"Bringing Dunlop Tires into the NOPI and NDRA family is a real boost for the sport-compact market," says Michael Meyers, president of NOPI. "Having a brand with Dunlop's winning image join our efforts really helps us communicate our extreme performance message."

The country's top drag racers compete for money and the Xbox Cup, the year-end trophy awarded to the top points winner of the NDRA. The NOPI NATIONALS Motorsport Show takes place September 20 - 21, 2003, at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.
