Goodyear ramps up commercial tire introductions

March 7, 2003

"We're launching more commercial products in 2003 than in the last eight years," Ted Fick, vice president of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s commercial division, has told mtdealer.com.

Upcoming Goodyear commercial truck tires include:

* the G296, which is designed for the construction market and will be available in two versions;

* the G670 RV, which is "just for the RV market," which represents "a new initiative for us," says Fick;

* the G149 RSA regional steer tire, which comes with a standard profile;

* the G169 regional line-haul steer tire, a low-profile product.

Goodyear also will release two tread designs, the G338 for drive axle applications and the G319 for trailer applications.

The Akron, Ohio-based manufacturer also plans to unveil a new super single truck tire during the fourth quarter of 2003 or the first quarter of 2004.

Goodyear officially unveiled its new Goodyear G395 LHS steer tire earlier this week at its plant in Danville, Va.
