Pirelli reorganizes marketing department

Oct. 20, 2002

Pirelli Tire North America (PTNA) has reorganized its marketing department, effective immediately.

CEO and President Guy Mannino announced the following changes:

* Peter Tyson is vice president of marketing communications. He will retain his duties as Pirelli Group's worldwide director of brand support. He has been with the company since 1984.

"Peter's marketing experience within the Pirelli Tire family is second to none," says Mannino. "While not based in the U.S., he has been the principal architect of the marketing strategy for the North American market for a number of years."

* Jack Gerken, the principal of Brighton Public Relations, will report to Tyson. He has handled public relations for Pirelli for the last 18 years. Assisting Gerken will be John Dinkel, former editor of Road & Track.

* Tim Tanner has been appointed director of trade marketing for PTNA. He will be responsible for all promotional activities, merchandising, product planning, pricing, Web site development and the training department.

Tanner will report to Riccardo Cicchi, vice president of sales and marketing. Both are based in Rome, Ga., the company's headquarters.

In a related move, Kevin Gilhuly, former director of marketing communications, is Pirelli's new Mid-Atlantic sales director.

"Kevin has always been highly respected by our dealers across the nation," says Mannino. "These relationships and his excellent knowledge of the product will ensure that our customers are served well in the Mid-Atlantic region."
