ConocoPhillips Co. is launching a reformulated version of Kendall GT-1 5W-40 full synthetic motor oil for use in European and other high-performance vehicles operating under normal to severe service or extreme temperature conditions.

The new Kendall GT-1 full synthetic 5W-40 motor oil meets or exceeds the performance requirements of API SM/CF, ACEA A3-04 and ACEA B4-04. It is recommended for use in European vehicles such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Porsche, where the automaker specifies use of a SAE 5W-40 engine oil, according to Clarence McCollum, director of automotive products, ConocoPhillips Lubricants.

“It is important to all of us at ConocoPhillips to provide drivers with premium products that help to keep engines running at peak performance,” says McCollum. “With this goal in mind, we reformulated our new 5W-40 engine oil to meet the strict standards of many of the finest European automakers, as well as provide enhanced performance benefits and maximum protection against viscosity breakdown.”

The newly reformulated Kendall GT-1 Full Synthetic 5W-40 offers the following performance benefits:

* Improved resistance to viscosity and thermal breakdown at high temperatures.

* Optimum low-temperature pumpability for protection during cold starts.

* Protection against wear and deposit formation.

* Enhanced protection against volatility-related oil consumption.

Kendall GT-1 5W-40 Full Synthetic Motor Oil is approved for service fill under the following OEM specifications: Mercedes-Benz 229.5, as well as an upgrade to BMW Longlife-01, Porsche (except Cayenne V6) and VW 505.00/502.00.
