Retired Hercules Executive Steven Buck Has Died

Steven Buck, a former Hercules Tire & Rubber Co. executive, died on Oct. 12. The Findlay, Ohio, resident was 72.

Buck was tire division vice president and general manager for Hercules when he retired in January 2006. He had worked for Hercules for 20 years.

He began his career in the tire and rubber industry with Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. He worked for Farmland Industries and Cenex before joining Hercules. After he retired from Hercules, he began a second career as a licensed realtor agent.

Buck is also remembered for his involvement in many professional and community organizations. He served as a director on several national and local boards including the National Tires Dealers Association, the Findlay Rotary Club, Open Arms and several condo and association boards. Buck was an active member of the Findlay Country Club, Rotary Club, Bay Point Yacht Club, and Gateway Church where he previously served as an Elder. He was a life member of Pheasants Forever, a member of the NRA and the Pits Rod and Gun Club.

Buck graduated from Schuyler (Nebraska) High School, United States Army Officers Candidate School, and Nebraska State College. He served as an officer in several Army National Guard and Army Reserve Units.

Survivors include his wife Darlene, sons Christopher (Jennifer) Buck of Independence, Ky., and Matthew (Sarah) Buck of Findlay; daughter: Stephanie Buck of Chicago, Ill.; a brother, a sister and eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 16, 2015 from 1-3 and 5-7 pm at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home in Findlay. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Gateway Church in Findlay with additional visitation one hour prior to the church.

Memorials are suggested to Open Arms in Findlay.
