Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire LLC (BFNT) is recalling 135,310 size P235/75R15 Firestone FR380 tires and 26,947 size P235/75R15 Lemans Champion SE tires.

The FR380 tires were manufactured between June 4, 2006, and Sept. 8, 2007, while the Lemans Champion SE tires were produced between June 4, 2006, and Sept. 2, 2006. They were built by Bridgestone Firestone de Costa Rica, S.A.

"These tires were produced with insufficient tread base gauge," say officials from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

"Continued use of the subject tires may lead to vibration and groove cracking. Extended use could lead to tread distortion or tread separation and loss of vehicle control."

BFNT will notify owners and replace the affected tires free of charge. BFNT also will mount and balance the replacement tires, all at no charge or expense to the owner.

Owners may contact BFNT at (800)465-1904 or visit www.firestonetire.com.
