Discount Tire recalls 79,513 LT tires

Aug. 11, 2015

Reinalt-Thomas Corp., which does business as Discount Tire, is recalling 79,513 Pathfinder SAT light truck tires manufactured between Aug. 5, 2013, and May 19, 2015.

Here is a breakdown of the specific Pathfinder SAT sizes being recalled:

1.  LT245/75R17E1 121R W tires, manufactured Sept. 16, 2013, to May 19, 2015.

2. LT265/75R16E1 123Q W tires, manufactured Aug. 5, 2013, to May 19, 2015.

3. LT265/70R17E1 121S B tires, manufactured Sept. 2, 2013, to May 19, 2015.

4. LT275/65R18E1 123S B tires, manufactured Oct. 7, 2013, to May 19, 2015.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) campaign number is 15T015.

According to NHTSA, these replacement light truck tires may have been manufactured with a inner liner gauge that is lower than specified. As a result, the tire tread may separate and cause rapid air pressure loss. If a tire experiences tread separation or air pressure loss, it can increase the risk of a vehicle crash.

Discount Tire says it will notify owners, and dealers will provide replacement tires or refund the purchase price, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in August 2015. Owners may contact Discount Tire customer service at (888) 519-6914.
