Continental's second recall in July: 8,500 tires

Continental Tire the Americas LLC is recalling approximately 8,500 ContiProContact 225/45 R17 91 H tires produced between February and May 2015 and sold in the replacement market in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Of the recalled tires:

* 4,884 tires were sold in the U.S.;

* 2,032 were solid in Canada; and

* 1,551 were sold in Mexico.

The tires were produced between February and May 2015.

Continental says the tires may experience loss of air pressure. The tires can be identified with the Department of Transportation (DOT) code P5TY PXH6 0815 through P5TY PXH6 1915.

Continental has not received any reports of accidents or injuries resulting from this condition.

Continental notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of the details of the recall on July 15, 2015.

The company says it is communicating with its tire distributors and dealers to identify consumers who purchased affected tires. Owners will be promptly notified and informed about the details of the voluntary safety recall program.

Consumers seeking more information, including instructions for identifying affected tires as well as obtaining replacement tires are asked to visit Continental's website http://continentaltire.custhelp.com.
