Marangoni sees big gains in 2002

Oct. 16, 2002

"We doubled our business from last year and we expect to do that again," says Marangoni Tread North America Inc. President Bill Sweatman.

"We're satisfied with how the business is going."

Sweatman declined to disclose specific figures.

Earlier this month, Marangoni signed Texarkana, Texas-based Heintschel Tire & Service, its 11th licensee in the United States. (The company has two in Canada.)

"We expect to add four to five new dealers over the next 12 months," Sweatman says.

Marangoni started signing North American retreaders in 1998; prior to that, it did not have any retreaders in the region.

Sweatman also says that Marangoni has transferred most of its inventory from its warehouse in Baltimore, Md., to its Nashville, Tenn., facility.

The Baltimore distribution center, which serves Marangoni's Canadian licensees, will continue to stock materials, albeit in smaller quantities, he adds.
