Goodyear to temporarily reduce production

Oct. 20, 2008

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. is adjusting production at four of its plants "to align production with reduced consumer demand," according to a Goodyear spokesperson.

Goodyear's Union City, Tenn., Gadsden, Ala., and Fayetteville, N.C., plants will temporarily cease production for one week during the last week of October.

The tiremaker's Lawton, Okla., plant will not run production for four consecutive Sundays, starting on Oct. 26.

Combined, the four plants have a manufacturing capacity of 197,000 passenger and light truck tires per day, according to Modern Tire Dealer research.
