May 18, 2015

Apollo Tyres Ltd., in association with Manchester United, recently chose the winners of Apollo's "Go The Distance" scholarship program.

Aimed at nurturing young football (known as soccer in the U.S.) talent in India, six young footballers received one-year scholarships with Youth Football International in the Indian capital of Delhi.

The scholarship winners (with their age group in parentheses) are:

1. Louie Bastin (U9).

2. Fahad Temuri (U11).

3. Shay Smith (U13).

4. Vanlalzahawma (U15).

5. Sahil Kumar (U17).

6. Kevin Malhotra (U19).

They were chosen following a five-day football camp at the American Embassy School in the municipality of New Delhi.

From May 11–15, nearly 200 kids ranging from age 9 to 19 were shown a range of movements and techniques linked to Manchester United coaching methods by Mikael Silvestre, former Manchester United defender, and two Manchester United Soccer School coaches. One player from each age group was chosen for the Apollo "Go The Distance" scholarship.
