3 tire makers earn rankings for reputations

May 14, 2015

Three tire manufacturers are named among the most reputable companies in the United States according to the annual U.S. RepTrak 100 list released by Reputation Institute and published in Forbes.

Michelin North America Inc., Bridgestone Americas Tires Operations LLC and Pirelli Tire North America Inc. all made the list. The US. RepTrak rankings measure the public’s perception of companies based on seven dimensions: innovation, leadership, governance, citizenship, workplace, performance and products/services.

The 2015 list of America’s 100 most reputable companies is compiled annually by Reputation Institute, a research and advisory firm focused solely on corporate reputations.

Michelin ranked No. 33. Bridgestone ranked No. 84 and Pirelli ranked No. 98. In a press release Pirelli says this is the first time the company has been included in the rankings.

Reputation Institute says its RepTrak model provides a one-of-a-kind measurement of how the public views the world’s best-known companies. The RepTrak database is normative, examining 15 stakeholder groups in more than 25 industries and more than 50 countries for more than 7,000 companies. The 2015 U.S. RepTrak 100 examines perceptions of companies by the U.S. general public based on more than 70,000 interviews.

“The top U.S. companies proactively manage their reputations by investing as much in corporate dimensions like governance, citizenship and workplace as they do in their products and services,” says Brad Hecht, chief research officer at Reputation Institute.

“Companies with strong reputations are 15 times more likely to attract better talent and they reap significant financial benefits, too," Hecht says. "The most reputable companies see a stock performance that is two times better than the overall market and they benefit from a 6.5% increase in recommendations every time they improve their RepTrak score by 5 points.”

“Pirelli is honored to be a part of the U.S. RepTrak 100 list for the first time ever," says Pierluigi Dinelli, Chairman and CEO of Pirelli Tire North America. "This reflects our commitment to the U.S. market, where we have been increasingly focused on new product development and launches specifically for North American drivers and manufacturers. This draws from our renowned technology, innovation and product know-how that we have built over 140 years."
