Falken Tire takes multiple podiums at Ultra4 Metalcloak Stampede in Sacramento

May 14, 2015

Falken Tire, the manufacturer of high performance on- and off-road tires available for a wide array of popular cars, trucks, off-road vehicles and crossovers, earned five podiums in seven classes at last weekend’s Ultra4 MetalCloak Stampede at the Prairie City State Vehicular Recreation Area (SVRA), surrounding the base of the Sierra Nevada, near Sacramento, CA.

Top honors went to Shawn Rants, who won the 4500 Modified class in the Mod/Stock Class Combined race, competing on Falken WILDPEAK M/T tires, sized 37x12.50R17.  Justin Hall finished in second place, running the same tire and size as Shawn.

In the 4600 Stock Class, which raced alongside the Mod class, Ben Varozza took second place, while Sean McNamara finished third.  Both drivers ran on Falken WILDPEAK A/T 35x12.50R15 tires. These tires are specially grooved for competition in short course tracks such as Prairie City.

Long-time Stock Class Driver Bailey Cole moved to the 4700 Spec Class and had one of the best races of the weekend.  He fought with – and lead a majority of the race – against veteran driver Ricky Johnson (a former AMA Supercross, Short Course and Desert Racing Champion) in the Spec/Legends Combined race.  Johnson ended up passing Cole on the last lap for the win, but Bailey (a veteran himself who just turned 18 years old in February) was just seconds behind him and took a solid second place. Cole ran his race on WILDPEAK M/T 37X12.50R17 tires.

In the same race, Ernie Hardaway took his 4800 Legends Class car to a second place podium, earning Falken its fifth podium of the weekend.

Finally, Privateer Phil Cagliero won the Sportsman race in the UTV class running WILDPEAK A/T 30x9.50R15 tires.

“Falken supports multiple teams running the Ultra4 events because competition is tight, the racing is good and the courses are excellent which all showcase our WILDPEAK line of tires,” stated Nestor Cabrera, Falken’s Off-Road Supervisor.  “The same WILDPEAK M/T 37x12.50R17 used by many of our teams has become a popular size for consumers as it definitely makes a difference at the track and on- and off-road.”

The Prairie City SVRA has trails for motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, and recreational utility vehicles, plus an ATV practice track, a motorcycle practice track, and two practice tracks for kids.  The four-wheel drive obstacle course is another feature at Prairie City for OHV enthusiasts that includes a  rock course, a 4x4 pyramid obstacle, a sand pit,  and a mud pit. It is part of the California State Park system.
