Hankook Tire charges into Formula Drift

April 7, 2015

After an amazing 2014 Formula Drift season which saw Hankook driver Chris Forsberg win the 2014 Formula Drift Championship and Hankook being crowned “Formula Drift Tire Manufacturer Champion” for a second year in a row, the company is revving up its Formula Drift motorsports activities for 2015.

Hankook charges into 2015 continuing its official sponsorship of the Formula Drift race series and will field four drivers and teams this season.  Hankook’s Formula Drift team lineup includes reigning Formula Drift champion Chris Forsberg in his Nissan 370Z, 2014 championship runner-up Fredric Aasbo in his Scion tC, Ken Gushi in his Scion FR-S, and Forrest Wang in his Nissan 240sx.

All of Hankook’s Formula Drift drivers will compete on Hankook’s Extreme Performance Ventus R-S3 tire, one of the premier tires in Formula Drift competition. The Ventus R-S3 was designed using the same design and technology used to build Hankook’s winning Ventus Z214 racing tire and has been proven at Formula Drift races since 2009, garnering Hankook multiple podium finishes, and contributing to Chris Forsberg’s championship winning performance last year.

In addition to its on-site Formula Drift race activities, Hankook will bring regular updates and multimedia content to its fans via its social media channels including HankookUSA on Facebook (www.facebook.com/HankookUSA), Twitter (@HankookUSA) and Instagram (@HankookUSAracing).

“Our Formula Drift motorsports activities offer us the perfect stage to showcase Hankook’s focus on technology, design and performance,” said Paul Jho, Hankook Tire America Corp. Motorsports Marketing Manager. “Continuing our momentum from 2014 with a Formula Drift championship secured by Chris Forsberg and another Formula Drift Tire Manufacturer Championship under our belt, we’re setting our sights on the winner’s podium this season.”

The 2015 Formula Drift racing season begins on Friday, April 10th in Long Beach, California, with Round One, “The Streets of Long Beach.”
