Yokohama expands Geolandar line

March 5, 2015

Yokohama Tire Corp. (YTC) has added a crossover all-season tire with a 65,000-mile tread wear warranty to its Geolandar line.

The new Geolander G055, now on sale in the U.S. and Canada, is initially available in 19 sizes from 16 to 20 inches in H- and V-speed ratings.

“The crossover tire market is a fast-growing segment, and the G055 is a perfect fit because it’s engineered specifically for those vehicles, as well as for a wide range of weather conditions,” says Fred Koplin, senior director, marketing for YTC.

Koplin says the Geolandar G055 features all-season performance and extended tread life, which he credits to Yokohama’s advanced orange oil technology.

The company says the new tire also provides:

* superior traction in wet and wintry conditions through transition grooves with notch sipes that work together to create biting edges while maintaining tread block rigidity for improved mileage and handling;

* confident wet handling through circumferential zigzag grooves that resist hydroplaning by channeling water away from the tread and provide aggressive edges even as the tread wears; and

* less road noise through an integrated shoulder and full nylon cover that improves stability while resisting irregular wear.

YTC is the North American sales and marketing arm of Tokyo, Japan-based Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. For more information on Yokohama’s broad product line, visit www.yokohamatire.com.
