Continental to focus on core business fields

Sept. 30, 2008

Continental AG "has opened up broader future options" by reorganizing the tasks of its members to focus on two of the company's core business fields.

As of Oct. 1, Karl-Thomas Neumann, Continental's chairman, will head the company's Automotive Group, which consists of its Chassis & Safety, Interior and Powertrain divisions.

On the same day, Alan Hippe, Continental's deputy chairman, will take on management of Continental's Rubber Group, which is made up of the firm's Passenger and Light Truck Tires, Commercial Vehicle Tires and ContiTech units.

"With this move, we are providing both company groups with more freedom so they can react to the respective trends and options in their various fields," says Hippe.
