B.O.B. blog lists tariff winners and losers

Jan. 22, 2015

When it comes to the additional tariffs on consumer tire imports from China, there are several winners, at the very least in their own minds.

Domestic tire manufacturers that produce competing tires are happy. They will be less worried about low pricing. They may even increase prices.

Executives at the United Steelworkers union are happy, because their petition calling for a level playing field was granted.

And, believe it or not, one of the Chinese tire producers should be happy, not only because its tariff is lower than everyone elses, but also because it didn't suffer additional penalties.

Who was the big winner in the Tariff Sweepstakes? To find out, read Modern Tire Dealer Editor Bob Ulrich's latest blog, "The tariffs have been assessed, and there is one VERY BIG winner." In it is a link to which companies are being assessed what tariffs.

Do you agree with Ulrich? What does he mean by "penalties"? Is he taking these tariffs too seriously?
