Cooper Recalls 2,085 17-Inch Tires

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. is recalling certain Cooper Evolution Tour, Mastercraft SRT Touring, Hercules Roadtour 455 Sport, Starfire Solarus AS and Mastercraft Stratus AS tires in size 225/50R17. The potential number of units affected is 2,095.

All have a DOT date code of 3019, which means they were manufactured by Cooper during the 30th week of 2019. The recall's National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) identification number is 19T024.

NHTSA says the subject tires were manufactured with an improper sidewall component. "The improper sidewall component may cause tire deflation and tread separation, increasing the risk of a crash."

Cooper Tire will notify owners, and dealers will replace the tires free of charge. Consumers who had their tires replaced before this recall may be eligible to receive reimbursement. Owners may contact Cooper Tire customer service at 1-800-854-6288.
