GRI Unveils Eco-Friendly Version of Ultimate XT

Nov. 22, 2019

Specialty tiremaker Global Rubber Industries (Pvt) Ltd. (GRI) has developed an eco-friendly version of its high-performance Ultimate XT solid tire. The company’s research and development team, working with a team of scientists from the department of chemistry at the University of Colombo, have replaced the tire’s petroleum-based oil with natural oil, “which is carbon-neutral and renewable,” according to GRI officials.

“The tire was developed to perform in all surface terrains and harsh working conditions,” they note. “Test results have indicated that replacement of petroleum oil with the (product’s) special, environmentally friendly oil has successfully resulted in superior performance.”

The eco-friendly tire, “coupled with its wide profile footprint, has statistically proven to reduce wear proportionately throughout (its) lifecycle, while having the capability to run on all surface conditions in any application, including indoor, outdoor, wet and dry conditions,” says Gary Stevens, GRI’s president of sales. “It is available in non-marking and clip-type tires in a full range of sizes.”

With the launch of the enhanced Ultimate XT, GRI, which is based in Sri Lanka and operates offices in nine countries – with a sales presence in more than 50 countries – plans to “enhance its strategy of manufacturing high-performance, green solid rubber tires that result in reduced environmental pollution and increased efficiency.”
