Yokohama Adds to UHP Tire Lineup With Advan Apex

July 30, 2019

Yokohama Tire Corp. is adding another new ultra-high performance tire to its lineup in 2019 — the Advan Apex. It's developed for the North American market, and the tire is Y-rated and available in 44 sizes for wheels ranging from 17 inches to 20 inches. The tire is available to consumers Aug. 1.

The Apex includes a 25,000-mile limited tread warranty. (Staggered fitmets are covered by a 12,500-mile limited tread warranty.)

“The Advan Apex is the latest chapter in Yokohama’s storied history,” says Duane Sampson, Yokohama product marketing manager. “It’s engineered for performance-driven enthusiasts who truly enjoy the drive.”

It comes on the heels of the launch of another UHP tire earlier this year — the Advan Fleva V701.

Yokohama says the Apex offers enhanced wet and dry performance, while providing a refined experience for a wide range of sports cars, high-end performance vehicles and American muscle cars.

The tire maker says the Advan Apex offers four benefits:  Maximum grip: High-grade micro silica in a wide outside rib block devoid of lateral grooves creates near seamless contact with the road for maximum cornering performance. Plus, three inside grooves enhance wet performance while a narrow outside groove dissipates heat generated by high lateral loads for optimal dry performance.

Precision handling: An uninterrupted center rib enhances high speed stability.

Extended tread life: A micro-silica compound and rounded ribs profile optimize contact pressure with the road to reduce uneven wear.

Quiet ride: Optimized groove angles minimize road noise for a more comfortable, quiet ride.
