Nokian Tyres plc has acquired three retailers in the New England area in an effort to strengthen its presence in that "strategically important market," according to Nokian officials.

The dealerships acquired include Montouri Tire of Fitchburg, Mass., Phelps Tire of Springfield, Vt., and Vianor Concord of Concord, N.H.

The acquisitions bring Nokian's total number of company-owned outlets in the United States to nine.

The addition of these dealerships will "expand the existing Nokian Tyres’ Vianor tire chain, which consists of 420 outlets in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Switzerland and the U.S."
