Global Rubber Industries Pvt. Ltd. (GRI) has released more than 100 unique tire sizes since opening its specialty tire plant in Sri Lanka one year ago.
The company marked the first anniversary of the factory’s grand opening on Jan. 25.
Agriculture tires make up about 70% of the factory’s production; the remaining output consists of pneumatic construction tires and forklift tires.
“GRI is now well positioned to cater to the farming needs of the global agriculture industry with a large range of high-quality radials and bias tires,” says Prabhash Subasinghe managing director. In addition to the number of sizes, the quality and dependability of GRIs specialty tire range has been highly commended by the marketplace, according to Subasinghe.
Since the opening of the specialty tire manufacturing factory, GRI implemented the strategy of increased automation, via the utilization of leading edge and modernistic manufacturing units. This has increased the degree of precision, with enhanced consistency in quality, shorter cycle times, increased efficiency, reduced waste and increased safety.
The company says some of its new machines are the first of their kind to be commissioned in Sri Lanka: the Marangoni tire building machine, the tire endurance tester, the plunger tester, and several other high-end machines.
GRIs new specialty tire factory is completely self-sufficient and is certified by ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 and been recently accredited with the ISO 50001 Energy Management certification.
GRI’s commitment to sustainability is evident throughout in its 1.2-Megawatt solar panels, biomass boilers and fully recyclable waste and water management systems. The company says the plant is a testament to the pioneering spirit and values embodied by all at GRI.
Examples of the products being manufactured at the plant include the radial range of Green XLR 65, 70, 80 and 95 series along with the Green XLR F77 floatation tires. GRI also features the bias range of, Green EX RIB 3 implement tires, Green EX FL700 flotation and RT100 tractor tires.
GRI’s plans for the future include opening a new mixing in the next few months, which will result in a significant capacity increase. “With the goal of advancement and continuous improvement at its forefront, and in an everchanging, complex and uncertain world, we rise to the challenge of providing the best specialty tires possible.” says Subasinghe.
