Groupe Michelin’s CEO Jean-Dominque Senard is the new chairman of Renault Group. Renault’s board of directors tapped Senard for the role following the resignation of Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn.
Renault announced the leadership changes on Jan. 24, 2019.
Ghosn has been in custody in Japan since November following his arrest for financial misdeeds at Nissan Motor Co. Ltd.
Senard had previously announced his intention to leave Michelin at the end of the 2019 annual shareholders meeting. Michelin’s board named Florent Menegaux to be Senard's replacement.
Menegaux joined Michelin as commercial director for truck tires in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland in 1997. He took on roles of increasing responsibility and was named chief operating officer in December 2014 and senior executive vice president of Groupe Michelin in 2017.
Renault’s board of directors separated the functions of chairman of the board and chief executive officer. As chairman, Senard’s duties will include managing Renault’s alliance with Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors Corp. Renault’s board named Thierry Bolloré as chief executive officer.
