Goodyear unveils new Armor Max commercial light truck tires

Dec. 4, 2007

Four new commercial-duty light truck tires from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. contain the company's new Armor Max Technology: the Unisteel G949 RSA and G947, two all-position tires, and the Unisteel G933 RSD and G971, which are drive tires.

The G949 RSA is designed for regional highway and urban use. The G947 contains scrub-resistant compounds and raised sidewall protector ribs.

The G933 RSD has "hefty traction blocks on the tread," according to Goodyear officials, while the G971, an off-road tire, "has a lug tread and compounding that helps provide traction and rock and pothole protection for vehicles used in logging and mining sites."

The tires are built with steel-reinforced sidewalls and steel belts, "providing long mileage and casings for multiple retreads," says Steve McClellan, vice president of Goodyear's commercial tire systems.

"A complete line of retreads also is available for use with Armor Max tires," he adds.
