Philadelphia Marathon names Goodyear 'official tire'

Nov. 12, 2007

Goodyear is the "Official Tire" of the 2007 Philadelphia Marathon, which will be held on Sunday, Nov. 18.

As part of the agreement between Goodyear and the marathon's organizers, the marathon's "blue line" that leads runners through the race's 26.2 miles will be painted in the pattern of the company's signature TripleTred tread pattern.

The pattern will be seen by an estimated 15,000 runners and more than 100,000 spectators, according to Goodyear. Some 1.5 million Philadelphians also could potentially see the blue tire-tread line, which will start in front of Philadelphia's Museum of Art and continue in the shadows of Independence Hall, Penn's Landing and the Liberty Bell.

As the Official Tire of the Philadelphia Marathon, Goodyear will support its sponsorship through a wide variety of initiatives, including the following:

* providing tires for all race vehicles;

* distributing Goodyear "Get there" advertising campaign fan signs at local dealers and at all marathon "cheer zones";

* hosting a booth at the Heath & Fitness Expo; and

* running a series of marathon specific advertisements.

A six-foot-tall replica Fortera TripleTred tire will roll the line out over the entire course for the two nights leading up to the marathon using a biodegradable, all natural vegetable-based latex paint.
