Brembo North America Inc. has acquired Hayes Lemmerz International Inc.'s Automotive Brake Components division for $58 million.
The unit includes factories in Michigan and Mexico that manufacture brake rotors and drums for the North American passenger car and light truck markets.
It employs 250 people and enjoyed sales of $120 million last year.
Brembo officials say the transaction "will greatly improve Brembo's position in the North American brake rotor market" and will provide Brembo "with a solid manufacturing base" to supply its North American clients.
