Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has made two major executive changes to its North American Tire marketing and retail operations.

* Brett Ponton has been named to the new position of vice president of marketing for the consumer replacement business. He has been with Goodyear 16 years.

In his new role, he will manage the marketing strategy and execution for the Goodyear, Dunlop, Kelly and associated brands.

* Scott Vogel has been hired as vice president, retail, replacing Ponton. His responsibilities include managing the company's 750 company-owned outlets.

Most recently, Vogel was president of Valvoline Instant Oil Change, Valvoline's retail arm, which is comprised of 270 company-owned stores and more than 500 franchised locations. Valvoline is a division of Ashland Inc.

Both Ponton and Vogel will report to Larry Mason, president of North American consumer tires.
